Jerrell Jones (Born March, 1986), better known by his stage name J-Kwon is an American rapper from St. Louis, Missouri best known for his 2004 hit single "Tipsy". At the age of 12 Jerrell left his mother's house after disagreements about his preference of "urban employment". After many restless nights spent in cars and the streets of South St. Louis, Jerrell realized the void in his life could only be filled with his new found faith in god and his passion for music. After two turbulent years of drugs, fights and growing pains, J-Kwon was born. L.A. Reid signed J-Kwon to Arista Records in Nov of 2003, and the rest was history. J-Kwon's first single "Tipsy" from his 2004 album Hood Hop peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200, #2 on the U.S. billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the UK Singles Chart. Other singles included "You & Me" with Sadiyyah and "Hood Hop". The album Hood Hop, released in March of 2004 appeared just as the hits were becoming unavoidable, the Album went platinum. His rise to stardom was spotlighted by shows such as The Night at the Apollo, TRL, 106 and Park, The Basement, Best Damn Sports Show, Jay Leno, and calumniated by the 2004 grand finale of Saturday Night Live. J-Kwon has worked with world renowned producers such as Jermaine Durpi, and The Track Boyz; he also collaborated with with many artists. Most notably, Nelly, Chingy, the comedian Andy Milonakis in "Like Dis", to promote “The Andy Milonakis Show” and appeared on Bow Wow's single "Fresh Azimiz"(a Top 20 R&B/Hip-Hop hit). In 2008, he released mix tapes Hood Hop 2, Hood Hop 2.5 (also released on CD on July 28, 2009. featuring "Louie Bounce (I Smacked Nikki)", and Hood Hop 3 exclusively for digital download through his own label Hood Hop Music. 

On March 3rd, 2010 J-Kwon was reported missing. MTV News later reported that he had gotten in touch with his record label, saying he is alive and well. He was later quoted as saying "he was taking a break from the spotlight and he was sorry for any problems it caused. He also went on to state that he appreciated all the love from the fans. ". J-Kwon released his third mix tape on March 23, 2010, entitled J-Kwon. He is now working on a new mix tape called C.O.L (Celebration of Life). The world will continue to party/ bounce in the car, in clubs, and in their homes, with his smash hit "YEAH". The single was leaked late 2010 by a New York producer. 

Outside of J-Kwon's music career, his humanitarian accomplishments include his nonprofit KWON 4 KIDS. In 2007 he launched this back-to-school campaign donating over 350 backpacks loaded with back-to-school supplies for local kids aged 5-14.
