Some Facts: “Their Greatest Hits 1971 – 1975” has been certified by the RIAA as the best selling album of all time, with 27-million units sold in the U.S. The Eagles are inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, their first year of eligibility.

The Eagles have sold over 120 million albums worldwide, had five No.1 albums, four Grammy Awards, five No.1 singles and countless sold-out tours throughout the world. The Eagles sold more albums in the 1970’s than any other recording artist.

The Eagles are the only recording artists in musical history to have three individual albums that have sold more than ten million units. “Their Greatest Hits 1971 – 1975” is the first Platinum album ever awarded by the RIAA and the best selling album of all time in the United States. “Hotel California” and “Greatest Hits 2” have sold more than 16 million and 10 million copies respectively. Sales of each of the bands other albums have also surpassed the one million mark. The Eagles’ catalog has consistently sells more than 1.5 million records annually.

In the 18 months between December 1976 and June 1978, the Eagles sold more than 18 million copies of the albums “Their Greatest Hits 1971 – 1975” and “Hotel California.” “Common Thread: The Songs Of The Eagles,” a compilation of Eagles songs performed by Nashville artists released in October 1993, has sold more than four million units and was awarded the Country Music Association’s Album of The Year Award in 1994. A portion of its royalties benefits the Walden Woods Project, which was founded by Don Henley in 1990 to help protect the woodland area surrounding Henry David Thoreau’s Walden Pond.
